Peer Review Policy
Overview
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Applied Therapeutics (JAT) undergo a structured peer review process designed to ensure scientific rigour, clinical relevance, and editorial integrity.
Initial Editorial Screening
All submissions are first evaluated by the Editor for:
- alignment with the journal’s scope
- basic methodological soundness
- ethical compliance
- completeness of submission
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.
Peer Review Model
JAT follows a double-anonymous peer review process.
- Reviewers are not informed of the authors’ identities
- Authors are not informed of the reviewers’ identities
All identifying information is removed prior to review.
External Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise.
Reviewers are selected based on:
- domain expertise
- academic and/or clinical experience
- absence of conflicts of interest
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
- evaluate scientific validity and methodological quality
- assess clinical or applied relevance
- provide constructive, unbiased feedback
- maintain confidentiality of the manuscript
- disclose any conflicts of interest
Editorial Decision-Making
Editorial decisions are based on:
- reviewer reports
- scientific merit
- clarity and originality
- relevance to the journal’s scope
The Editor makes the final decision on all manuscripts. Editorial decisions are made independently of any sponsorship or external influence.
Possible Decisions
Manuscripts may receive one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Revised manuscripts may undergo additional rounds of review as required.
Turnaround Time
JAT aims to complete the peer review process in a timely manner.
Actual timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.
The journal follows a structured editorial workflow with defined timelines.
Authors will be informed of the status of their manuscript at each stage of the review and publication process.
Editorial Review (Non-Peer Reviewed Content)
Certain article types may undergo editorial review only, including:
- invited editorials
- commentaries
- perspectives
Such articles are evaluated by the Editor and clearly identified where applicable.
Conflict of Interest in Review
Editors and reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest.
- Editors recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict exists
- Alternative editorial oversight is assigned where necessary
Confidentiality
All manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents.
- Reviewers must not share or use unpublished material
- Editorial staff maintain strict confidentiality throughout the process
Ethical Oversight
The peer review process at JAT is conducted in accordance with best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Any concerns regarding misconduct, bias, or ethical violations are handled in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.
